The Chinese saw a dragon and a tortoise, the Australian aboriginal peoples a great emu, the Pawnee a "Pathway of the Departed Spirits." Ptolemy saw a chained maiden, charioteer and a host of mythological characters while the French astronomer Lacaille saw a chisel, an air pump and a pendulum clock.

What were they looking at? The stars, of course! Long before the invention of writing, night watchers from around the globe conjured up everything from goldfish to gods in the random patterns of the firmament.

So, what if a modern suburbanite was inspired to create a new set of constellations using familiar objects? Well, it might look something like "Domestic Constellations."
