What do Saks Fifth Avenue, LeBron James and Mike Fitzpatrick have in common?
No, it's not a trick question. Give up?
What? Bear with me!
Last fall, Knowlita (a small apparel company) launched the "Nowhere" shirt concept with a "New York or Nowhere" T-shirt, quickly followed by "Los Angeles or Nowhere," "Malibu or Nowhere," "Paris or Nowhere," and other cities. Saks Fifth Avenue is the exclusive distributor.
One down, two to go!
Last November while watching Game 7 of the World Series between the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians, millions of people saw
--- wait for it ---
LeBron James wearing a hot-off-the-press "Cleveland or Nowhere" T-shirt!!!!
Since then, the "Nowhere" line has gone viral.
Two down, one to go!
This week's photo shows Mike Fitzpatrick, one of the artists from my new project titled "Seven Artists and a Toothbrush Factory", silkscreening a "NEW YORK OR NOWHERE" T-shirt.
NEW YORK OR NOWHERE
As T-shirt sales took off, Knowlita was unable to keep up with demand so recruited Mike to help with production. I like this POTW because it shows so much of what I love about Mike's studio and work -- the colorful and creamy inks, his 50-year-old, six-color silkscreen press and the skillfully hand-crafted products he creates. Recording Mike's serendipitous role in the trendy "Nowhere" story is just icing on the cake!
