collaborate: work jointly on an activity, especially to produce or create something.
synonyms: co-operate, join forces, team up, band together, work together, participate, combine, ally, pool resources, put heads together.
Doesn't that sound like a good thing? Something we might all strive for? What's not to like? I'm well aware that the news and social media are bursting with accounts of distinctly uncollaborative pursuits, although wouldn't an occasional story about joining forces or pooling resources be nice? In the "real" world, I see people working together all the time -- artists, scientists, medical teams, church groups, volunteers, neighbors, etc.
Which brings me, obliquely, to this week's photo "Uh oh!" Visual artists tend to work in isolation so cooking up a collaborative project is always a breath of fresh air. Such is the case for several of the images in my "Monday Morning Blues" series (introduced in POTW #15 http://www.dojopico.org/POTW/Morning-Blues).
A good friend and great sport modeled (with three different pairs of shoes!) for this POTW and my three-member "camera club" helped me whittle down the 100+ images to this final version. I could have worked on the "shoe with TP" concept by myself but Tricia wouldn't loan me her heels and the outcome would never have been as fun, creative or visually interesting!
So, in the spirit of "putting our heads together," I'm issuing a "call for ideas." What's your most memorable "Monday Morning Blues" experience? Send me your worst episode and I'll try to recreate it. Full credit will be given! Let's collaborate!
